Art AcCEss – Art therapy
A creative process is a process of transformation, one that gives meaning. This is what the 23 teachers who participated in art therapy sessions came to understand. They allowed themselves to explore facets of their personality hidden beneath layers of uncertainty or fear, stifled by habits and routines, blocked or creative.
Art therapy empowers teachers to better understand their students, communicate more effectively, and care for their mental and psychological health, as well as support their appropriate development. It offers a creative approach where children are seen, heard, and consulted—where they actively participate in decisions and freely express their opinions.
Children’s creations carry valuable information, both conscious and unconscious, about their lives, unmet needs, unexpressed desires, situations where they might be at risk, and emotions they experience outside of school. When teachers understand this information, it becomes a valuable tool for fostering greater self-awareness, learning to make positive life choices, and improving well-being.
These art therapy sessions are part of the “Art AcCEss – From Art Therapy to Access to Education” project, implemented in partnership with Accorde Emeraude from France. The project is funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ program.
